The Persian cat is a very popular breed of domesticated cat that is has long, flowing hair and a relatively flat face. This relatively quiet house cat generally has a sweet personality and is gentle and playful. Origins: Persian cats were named for their supposed place of ancestry, Persia ( now called Iran). The breed was probably brought to the West by an Italian traveler called Pietro della Valle (1586-1652). Many people think that the breed goes back to ancient Egypt.
Anatomy: Persians have long, shiny hair that comes in many colors. The legs are short and have large bones. The eyes are rounded and the ears are short.
